Women's Belt Instructions |
 |
|
Supplies:
Some silver
conchos of varying sizes
a belt of any
width made of leather
an awl
a hammer
a piece of
scrap wood
a string of
leather as long as your belt
If you want beadwork attached:
Rubber cement
Needle
White Thread
|
*You can make your belt to match your regalia or
with just conchos to match everything*
|
|
1. Get your scrap wood and place it on
a sturdy surface.
|
2. Mark where you want your conchos and/or beadwork.
|
|
3. Put your belt on your scrap wood,
then place the tip of your awl on your mark and hammer a hole through your
belt large enough for the loop on the conchos to go through.
|
4. After you have made all your holes
push your conchos on (the smaller they are the harder they are to get on).
|
|
5. Now take the leather string and put
it through all the concho loops (2nd picture below). Now tie the leather at
the end concho to secure it.
|
6. If you want beadwork:
You will need to sew a piece of leather to
the back of your beadwork to secure it to the belt.
|
|
7. When you are sewing the leather to the beadwork
make sure to go around the beads and be careful. You will need to sew it
enough to secure the leather.
|
8. Then you take the leather and push it thought the
holes you made earlier for the conchos and tie around the first piece
of leather (4th picture below). |
|
9. If the beadwork has a definite top and bottom or you don't trust your
sewing- put rubber cement on the back of your beadwork and press to your belt
for added assurance and/or to line up better. |
