Almost one hundred years ago Oklahoma became the forty-sixth state, forming from Indian Territory. Oklahoma is a unique state having different features and qualities. "Okla" meaning people, homa" (humma) meaning red, coming from the Choctaw language, literally means red people. Native Americans living in Oklahoma are descendants from the original sixty-seven tribes inhabiting Indian Territory The territorial governors, which are named in foam lettering are apart of this state and its history, not naming them or even mentioning them would he the same as forgetting the states name or forgetting your own name.

Oklahoma is the third largest natural gas-producing state in the nation. In the mid 1900s Charles Nathaniel Haskell became the first republican governor. Republicans also meaning elephants came from John C. Fremont wanting a pat* committed to fewer social programs. John C. Fremont was nominated far president under the slogan: Free soil, Free speech, Free men, Fremont.... but had no success in winning the election. President Andrew Jackson was the first democrat to be called a donkey. The cartoonist from Harper's weekly, Thomas Mast is also apart of the history. He helped create the popularity around the donkey and elephant symbol.

Symbols were created to help men and women have pride in themselves. Different symbols have different meanings every political party that has ever existed has had a symbol of some form whether it was a person, word, or even a picture. The two main parties have been around for over one hundred years, but what people ate missing ate the third parties and the other parties. The third parties which ate Constitution, Family Values, Freedom Socialist, Independence, Labor, Libertarian, light Natural Law, New, New Union, Peace and Freedom, Prohibition, Reform Party. There ate many more third parties mentioning these is a great value to the people and the state due to the fact there playing apart and building Oklahoma.

The other parties, which are American Falan gist, Patriot, Socialist party including Constitutionalist, Multicapitalist, and Democratic Socialists of America ate examples of patties in which ate important to the society. The political parties ate important to the state and country. A state and a country without varies political parties would be the same as having no culture. State elected officials are the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, auditor, state treasurer, superintendent of public instruction, commissioner of labor, and commissioner of insurance, all of whom serve four terms, and three corporation commissioners, who serve about a six year term. The governor is limited to serving two consecutive terms, A candidate for governor must be a 1.6 citizen at least thirty one years old and must have been qualified voter in Oklahoma for at least /0 years preceding election, Senators play a important roll in the making of Oklahoma. The senate leadership also has a important roll they help the community to improve and the state of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is known as the sooner state coming from the early settlers. The great Wild West that everyone talks about has been apart of Oklahoma since the early settlers, even before. Oklahoma's state seal a symbol that was developed from the history of the state. The central figures and wreath ate from the Great Seal of the Territory of Oklahoma. In each of the five rays of the main star in the Great Seal of the state is the official seal of one of the five Civilized Indian Nations that together comprised most or the area of present eastern Oklahoma. The upward ray depicts the seal of the Chickasaw Nation with an Indian warrior holding a bow and shield. In the upper left hand ray is the seven-pointed star bearing a wreath of oak leaves, which comprises the seal of the Cherokee Nation. The emblem of the Choctaw Nation is in the upper right hand ray and is composed of a tomahawk, a bow, and three crossed arrows. In the lower left hand ray is the seal of the Creek Nation, a sheaf of wheat and a plow. The lower right hand ray shows houses, and a factory on the shore of a lake, on which is an Indian hunter paddling a canoe and this comprises the seal of the Seminole Nation. Forty-five small stars surround the central star and these represent the forty-five states that made up the union at the time Oklahoma became a state. The state of Oklahoma is a beautiful state. The citizens of Oklahoma ate what makes this state a great place.
