Henry and Paralee Allen

Biography
Henry “Corky” Lemar Allen was born April 1,
1929 in Tonkawa Oklahoma. He was an enrolled member of the Tonkawa Tribe of
Indians and spent his childhood years as a resident of the City of Tonkawa.
Mr. Allen enlisted in
the Air force at a very young age and spent the next twenty years in active
duty. He served time in World War II and the Korean War.
In the early 1970’s
Henry attended Harvard University and upon graduation utilized his knowledge
and acquaintances to further the economic development of his tribe.
Mr. Allen served as
chairman of the Tonkawa Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma for twenty years. He also
served as Judge Magistrate over the Western District of Indian Territory of
Oklahoma in the 1980’s under the direction of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
He was a member of the
Blackwell branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and on the
Board of Elders.
He fought for Native
American rights passionately along side many other groundbreakers in the
1970’s and 1980’s.
Henry was married to
Paralee Reynolds and had seven children.
Henry can now be proud
of the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that admire and respect him
for the legacy he has left them.
He is greatly missed
and will always be remembered by his family as a great father and provider and
the one who taught them many valuable lessons, the biggest one being to fight
for those things that you truly love.
